Position Summary

ARL Bio Pharma is the leading pharmaceutical quality and safety testing laboratory in the country and has earned a stellar reputation for being the leader in quality science and customer service. This is an entry‑level role, the Data Processing Chemist I, who will be responsible for collaborating with chemists at various levels to perform supportive tasks that ensure efficient processing of samples.

The position will use a range of technical software and critical thinking to format data in compliance with internal, federal, and industry guidelines. In this role the Chemist will develop problem‑solving skills by independently identifying and resolving testing issues within assigned task groups, and by collaborating with colleagues. The Chemist will also participate in departmental discussions to assess technical and operational issues—including routine sample and project testing, results, SOPs, and client relationships—while using multiple computers and software, including Microsoft Office, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and other web‑based systems.

Because of the vital nature of this work and due to federal regulations governing our operations, we do not accept medical marijuana cards and we conduct random drug testing on all employees.

Work Schedule

Position Duties
  • Perform various processing tasks with instrument software, lab equipment, and word processing programs such as the Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Process detailed chromatography data for QMS compliance, reporting, and correcting any errors or discrepancies within guidelines and specifications.
  • Accurately record results of tests and samples in compliance with internal company guidelines, work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and QMS.
  • Strict adherence to standard laboratory operations and quality management systems (QMS).
  • Maintain data review and compliance with department standard operating procedures, safety, industry, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate and generate ideas involving process streamlining to efficiently meet deadlines.
  • Maintain the laboratory environment by cleaning and keeping work areas, desks, and office space orderly.
  • Assist department inventory reporting needs with appropriate personnel.
Position Requirements
  • Associate degree in Chemistry or related science field—or equivalent diploma with at least one year of experience in a laboratory or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or equivalent diploma with at least two years of experience in a laboratory or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • Experience in a professional laboratory environment using standard protective equipment (eye protection, gloves, lab coats, etc.).
  • Experience with standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • Familiarity with periodic exposure to toxic and/or hazardous chemicals, solvents, and other environmental substances.
  • Exposure to strong odors and varying temperatures is expected.
  • Ability to work in a moderate noise level environment.
  • Primary language of the workplace is English.
  • Attendance in the office is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Routine standing and walking, including walking between buildings and filing, is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (Lifting heavier objects requires a two‑person job or use of carts).
  • Ability to sit and stand in front of a computer or laboratory equipment for extended periods, with intermittent twisting or bending to reach instruments or supplies.
  • Ability to use hand strength and finger dexterity for precise manipulation of laboratory equipment.
  • Operation of standard office equipment.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English to receive and communicate information for standard and complex operations and emergencies accurately.
