Position
Security Officer – OK-SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital, Oklahoma City
Job SummaryProvides a reasonably safe and secure environment by providing security services for the staff, patients and premises as well as being first responders to urgent facility matters. Provides direction and guidance to officers on shift acting as a mentor and role model for junior officers.
Responsibilities- Assist with training of new staff; coach, train, and mentor all staff; promote diversity by demonstrating respect and encouraging learning.
- Act as first escalation in chain of command while on duty; use discretion to elevate issues further if unable to resolve; responsible for staff scheduling and other administrative duties.
- Ensure all shift duties and operations are assigned and completed, conduct investigations, complete reports, follow up, and assign to others timely; prioritize duties and service requests while ensuring safety and security for all persons and property.
- Review statistical reports and other summaries to monitor shift activities/trends; assist with reviewing and updating security policies and emergency plans, and participate in emergency exercises and drills.
- Promote visitor and employee safety by providing door checks, detecting lighting deficiencies, confirming proper operation of elevators and other equipment, and assisting with disruptive individuals.
- Work toward continuous compliance with accreditation standards and federal and state laws, including agencies such as The Joint Commission, CMS, and OSHA.
- Provide professional customer service in complex situations, assist with problem solving, respond to complaints, and proactively identify safety and security hazards.
- Assist law enforcement, corrections, and other officials as needed while ensuring compliance and recognition of patient’s rights.
- Troubleshoot access control, alarm, and video management system issues, apply common fixes, triage issues, and identify future installation needs; possess proficiency in printing and managing badge access systems.
- May operate motor vehicle to patrol.
- Maintain constant alertness and work safely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
- Three years of experience.
- Complete a psychological assessment following a conditional offer of employment to confirm suitability for providing security services.
- Provide proof of motor vehicle liability insurance that meets minimum state requirements upon hire and upon request.
- Constant use of hearing to receive oral communication and hear alarms.
- Constant use of vision for near and far distances.
- Constant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling objects weighing 0–25 lbs.
- Frequent use of speech to share information.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling objects weighing 25–50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, twisting, walking.
- Frequent vision use to judge distances, spatial relationships, and identify colors.
- Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, reaching, gripping, repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling objects weighing over 50 lbs.
- Occasional keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
- Occasional driving.
- Rare crawling, running and lifting/moving patients.
