Job Summary
Provides a reasonably safe and secure environment by providing security services for the staff, patients and premises as well as being first responders to urgent facility matters. Provides direction and guidance to officers on shift as a mentor and role model for junior officers.
Primary Responsibilities- Assist with training of new staff.
- Coach, train and mentor all staff.
- Champion diversity by demonstrating respect, encouraging learning and proactively supporting diversity in team building and customer interactions.
- Act as first escalation in the chain of command while on duty, using discretion to further escalations if needed.
- Responsible for staff scheduling and other administrative duties.
- Ensure all shift duties and operations are assigned and completed.
- Conduct investigations as needed, complete reports, follow up or assign them timely, ensuring proper communication.
- Prioritize duties and service requests while ensuring safety and security of all persons and property.
- Review statistical reports, summaries and other reports to monitor shift activities and trends.
- Assist with reviewing and updating security policies and emergency plans and participate in emergency exercises and drills.
- Promote visitor and employee safety by providing door checks, detecting lighting deficiencies, confirming proper operation of elevators and other equipment, and assisting disruptive individuals.
- Provide extra attention and monitor matters with security sensitive or heightened security concerns.
- Ensure and work toward continuous compliance with accreditation standards and federal and state laws (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA).
- Provide professional customer service when dealing with complex situations from staff or clients.
- Assist with problem solving, provide customer assistance, monitor safety, respond to complaints, and identify safety and security hazards through proactive communication.
- Assist law enforcement, corrections and other officials when necessary, ensuring compliance and recognition of patient rights.
- Troubleshoot access control, alarm and video management system issues, applying common fixes, triaging issues, and identifying future installation needs.
- Operate motor vehicle to patrol, where required.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
ExperienceThree years of experience.
Additional RequirementsFollowing extension of a conditional offer of employment, applicant must successfully complete a psychological assessment to confirm suitability for the rigors of providing security services as set forth in this job description.
Proof of motor vehicle liability insurance that meets minimum state requirements upon hire and upon request.
Physical RequirementsConstant use of hearing and vision for alarms and distance judgment. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs; occasional lifting over 50 lbs; frequent standing, twisting, walking. Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, reaching, gripping, repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements, occasional keyboard use, smell detection, driving, rare crawling, running, and lifting/moving patients.
Professional Licenses and Certifications- State of Illinois:
Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), Driver License, Firearm Owner Identification Card (FOID), Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC), or Active Law Enforcement Officer (ILETSB). - State of Missouri & County of
Work Location:
MVR, Driver License. If St. Charles County:
Security Officer License (St. Charles County or St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department). - State of Oklahoma and Wisconsin: MVR and Driver License.
