Compensation: $40,000.00 annually
Basic
Purpose:
Monitor and supervise 35–45 youth (ages 17–21) in the Oklahoma Job Challenge Program (Sooner Job Challenge Program).
Typical Functions:
- Monitors and supervises 35–45 youth (ages 17–21) in the Oklahoma Job Challenge Program.
- Maintains accountability of assigned platoon at all times.
- Maintains discipline, security, and safety within a quasi-military atmosphere.
- Develops a team-oriented attitude among associates.
- Serves as mentor/role model for assigned cadets during residential phase.
- Conducts first-line counseling and problem-solving for associates and is primary instructor in Drill and Ceremony and group living skills.
- Directs and participates in physical training.
- Provides transportation and supervision for associates attending vocational training.
- Maintains supporting documentation and evaluations for associates.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED. Degree not required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and
Competencies:
- Military background preferred, but not required.
Special Requirements/Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements:
- Long periods of standing and walking indoors and outdoors.
- Work in both high and low temperatures.
- Climb stairs, run a mile, walk extended distances, and perform push-ups, side straddle hops, sit-ups, and other physical training activities.
- Teach and perform physical training as outlined by the Youth Challenge Physical Fitness Program.
- Ability to drive or ride in a vehicle for extended distances.
Conditions of Employment:
- 12‑month trial period.
- Background check: favorable NCIC/OSBI.
- Pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening: favorable.
- Pre‑employment physical exam: favorable.
- MMPI test T1, child care check security clearance (eligibility for national security positions limited to U.S. citizens).
- Essential employee: required to work during inclement weather.
- Available to work if called in due to an emergency.
- Shift work and weekends (facility open 24 hours, 7 days a week).
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
Other Employment Conditions:
- FLSA Non‑Exempt status.
- Tobacco and vape free facility.
