Job Summary

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Test Technician to join our Oklahoma City based R&D team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with custom HVAC testing in an internationally recognized laboratory setting including installing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing HVAC systems under test. You will also utilize your skills to ensure the testing laboratory and equipment are maintained in peak working order.

Your expertise will help ensure Nortek custom HVAC equipment continues to exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Install and assist in testing custom HVAC systems and components to determine airflow, acoustic, and energy performance.
  • Maintain laboratory systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and ventilation systems.
  • Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and HVAC design drawings to accurately assist with testing protocols and diagnose issues.
  • Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters to test electrical components and ensure system integrity.
  • Help develop and maintain a preventive service plan and document system conditions for ongoing maintenance planning.
  • Collaborate with property maintenance teams to support overall building operations and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a problem‑solving HVAC or related service technician with a strong mechanical knowledge base.
  • Ability to read schematics and interpret HVAC design plans accurately.
  • Ability to work safely with industrial three phase power and lock‑out‑tag‑out systems.
  • General understanding of controls systems and control and instrumentation wiring.
  • General carpentry skills.
  • Proficient in use of forklift, scissor lifts, and overhead cranes.
  • General computer usage proficiency required including e‑mail and general office applications.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Hands‑on experience with construction or property maintenance environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with appliance and HVAC equipment repair, boiler operation, chiller operation, and welding techniques preferred.
Education and Certification
  • Associates degree in a technical field or relevant certificate from a recognized vo‑tech or specialized training center preferred.
  • Electrical or HVAC apprentice or journeyman license preferred.
  • Experience with 3 phase variable frequency drives is preferred.
  • Experience with balancing rotating equipment is preferred.
