We are looking for an HVAC Apprentice to join the team! This position is responsible for the assembly, installation, and repair of HVAC systems. This includes heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, ductwork, controls, and related mechanical equipment. Will work side by side with a licensed HVAC technician servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing HVAC systems.

Duties
  • Assists with the cleaning, maintenance, and servicing of HVAC components, including air conditioner condensers, evaporators, hydronic coils, dampers, grills, registers, and filters (throw‑away, washable, roll‑a‑matic).
  • Aid in the upkeep of exhaust systems, including driveline components such as bearings, shafts, pulleys, and belt driver assemblies.
  • Support system testing and troubleshooting using gauges, instruments, and other diagnostic equipment; report issues to the supervisor.
  • Assists with adjustments, repairs, or replacement of worn or defective parts and reassemble systems.
  • Aids with the installation of HVAC components, including expansion and control valves, ductwork (flexible and metal), fan coil units, piping, wiring, and insulation.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, replacements, and work orders.
  • Follows safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensures that work is performed in accordance with relevant codes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Required

Education:

High school diploma or GED

Skills
  • Basic knowledge of tools used to repair and maintain equipment and systems.
  • Basic knowledge of the appropriate tools used to repair or adjust refrigeration systems.
  • Basic understanding of mathematical concepts for measurements, system sizing, and calculations.
  • Excellent communication skills, high integrity, and a desire for professional growth as an HVAC technician.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and learn from experienced technicians.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to complete tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Solid technical aptitude and problem‑solving skills for diagnosing and assisting with HVAC systems.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, handle refrigerants, and work in confined spaces or on rooftops.
  • Willingness to learn and adhere to safety protocols, including OSHA and company‑specific guidelines.
Certifications
  • Oklahoma Construction Industries Board Mechanical Apprentice License within 120 days of employment.
  • Valid state‑issued driver's license.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical:
    • Climbing stairs.
    • Working with arms extended above head.
    • Carrying tools up to 75 pounds; or in excess of fifty pounds up or down stairs.
    • Lifting heavy objects (minimum seventy‑five pounds) at awkward angles.
    • Using repeated hand and wrist movements.
  • Environment:
    • Inhaling onerous odors.
    • Handling greasy materials.
    • Using small hand tools.
    • Works in cramped positions.
    • Some overtime required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • May be designated as an essential position during emergency closures.
    • May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies.
Departmental Preferences
  • Department Educational Preference is that the candidate possesses a HVAC degree from a technology center or trade school.
