Position: InSite Technician (Material Handler)

Clean Harbors in Knoxville, TN is seeking an InSite Technician (Material Handler) to join our safety‑conscious team. This role will be active in the field, performing hazardous waste clean‑up, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.

We offer $18–22/hr, including BOE, OT, and perks. Comprehensive health benefits are provided after 30 days of full‑time employment, including a 401(k) with company match.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
  • Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
  • Perform waste pickups throughout customer facilities.
  • Conduct chemical bulking and consolidation.
  • Package and label waste to ensure efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with on‑site spill response as required.
  • Operate forklifts safely.
  • Inspect drums for integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure safe loading and unloading of waste hauling vehicles.
  • Complete waste stream sampling and profiling.
  • Work extended (> 8 hrs.) time periods.
  • Attend all compliance and safety update meetings.
  • Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Safe loading and unloading of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste.
  • Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary.
  • Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules.
  • Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements.
  • Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures.
  • Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Previous relevant labor experience (2–4 years).
  • Ability to perform physical functions required by Key Responsibilities.
  • Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical evaluation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet OSHA Respiratory Protection facial hair standards per 29 CFR 1910.34.
