What You Will Do
Johnson Controls Inc. is looking for forward‑thinking HVAC mechanics to join our fast‑growing North American HVAC business. You will work on light commercial and/or heavy commercial teams, providing maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems, and support customers during commissioning and aftermarket service.
- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement of commercial HVACR systems.
- Travel 50–75% of the time as part of the Travel Team.
- Provide solutions, recommendations, and quotes to ensure facility efficiency.
- Partner with journeymen to repair centrifugal, steam turbines, absorption machines, open‑drive screw chillers, and ammonia systems.
- Offer trusted advice to customers during commissioning and aftermarket support.
- Member of or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry.
- Minimum eight (8) years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in HVAC, petrochemical, or data center environments.
- Experience repairing centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
- Ability to install complete systems (chillers, rooftop units, plumbing, supporting mechanical systems).
- Proficient in mechanical shaft alignment, vibration equipment troubleshooting, and driveline diagnostics.
- Ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
- Valid EPA refrigerant license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to write and communicate customer problem, cause, and corrective actions.
- Strong attention to detail, interpersonal, digital, and written skills.
- Self‑starter with a passion for learning on the job.
- Willingness to travel 50–75% to support branch customers.
Bargaining Unit Position: Pay range of $41 per hour (determined by CBA/rate sheet). Comprehensive benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
Salary range reflects target compensation for this role; exceptional candidates may receive consideration beyond the stated range.
