* Job Summary:
** The Wrong Way and School Zone Sign Technician supports each district with the installation, maintenance, and inspection of traffic control devices, with a primary focus on wrong-way detection systems and school zone safety systems. This position ensures public safety by maintaining clear, visible, and compliant sign age systems in high-risk and sensitive areas. Responsibilities include performing entry-level work related to the installation, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of traffic systems, communication networks, illumination, and data collection devices.
Work may occur in heavy traffic conditions, require extensive statewide travel, and involve interaction with governmental and private entities. Employees in this role follow specific instructions and complete assignments under frequent review by an immediate supervisor#
** Typical Functions
** The functions performed in this job family will vary by level, unit and organization, but may include the following:
• Install and maintain wrong-way detection signs and systems on roadways and ramps.
• Set up and service school zone signs, including flashing beacons and speed limit indicators.
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure signs are visible, functional, and compliant with MUTCD standards, ODOT standards, and Manufacturer standards.
• Respond to emergency sign repair requests and traffic safety concerns.
