Position: Engineering Technician III (PR) with Security Clearance

Job Summary: The Contractor will perform troubleshooting, tear‑down, repair, refurbishment, overhaul, assembly, testing, and installation services for designated equipment at the request of FAALC Product Divisions or Groups. Labor categories required include Electronics Technicians and Engineering Technicians.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering technician services to ensure electronic systems, subsystems, and components meet serviceability, reliability, and availability requirements. Tasks include:
    • Mechanical, electrical, and electronic system troubleshooting, repair, assembly, refurbishment, installation, calibration, and testing.
    • Design of test fixtures and prototypes, performance analysis, data collection, and equipment installation.
  • Conduct system/subsystem/component troubleshooting, repair, and testing to return unserviceable equipment to serviceable status. Items include electronic assemblies, cables and harnesses, circuit cards, prototypes, test fixtures, and test beds. Complete calibration, testing, and certification per technical documentation.
  • Assemble cables, wiring harnesses, circuit cards, and other electronic assemblies according to FAALC technical documentation. Install and perform test and calibration functions for this equipment.
  • Install electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, subsystems, components, test fixtures, modifications, and engineering prototypes.

    Responsibilities include:
    • NAVAID antenna and component repair.
    • Rotary joint and drive motor troubleshooting.
    • Circuit board testing and repair.
    • Production and repair of electronic cables and wire.
    • Equipment performance analysis and reporting.
    • Installation of equipment and components, including modifications.
    • Installation and maintenance of NAS Radomes.
  • Structural inspection and maintenance of towers and tower components up to 750 feet in height, including interior and exterior maintenance, and installation of communication antennas, surveillance systems, safety wire, tower guy wire pull‑off shackles, and tower obstruction lighting systems. Tasks require moderate lifting and carrying (50 lbs), reaching above shoulders, walking and standing, repeated bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling, and operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle.
  • Attend all required training classes to maintain knowledge of repair procedures for all systems, including safety courses.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) and corrective maintenance (CMs) on FAA and interagency systems in accordance with local and FAA policy and procedures.
  • Basic troubleshooting of electronic/electro‑mechanical systems, fault isolation, removal, and replacement of failed Line Replaceable Units (LRUs).
  • Prepare FAA and interagency assets for shipment to and from field sites, vendor locations, and the FAA Logistic Center (FAALC).
  • Enter time into the Data Collection and Reporting System (DCRS) daily for billing.
  • Communicate assigned tasks and status to Crew Leads.
  • Perform tower climbing and work at heights greater than 50 feet.
  • Conduct corrosion control and prevention activities.
  • Operate equipment such as boom lifts and motorized forklifts.
  • Work from ropes at heights.
Qualifications
  • An associate degree in electrical or engineering technology, or completion of equivalent formal technical training courses.
  • Practical experience in an electronic technician support position, including troubleshooting, repairing, assembling, testing, and installing electrical and electronic systems and equipment.
  • Successfully completed a physical fitness evaluation with minimum weight of 125 lbs and maximum weight of 290 lbs.
  • Ability to obtain NACI Clearance (Public Trust).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Two forms of unexpired identification, including one primary form such as a REAL ‑compliant driver’s license, state‑issued , DOT Transportation , U.S. Passport, Permanent Resident Card, U.S. Military , or PIV Card, and one secondary form such as a Social Security card, birth certificate, or U.S. Citizenship or Naturalization certificate.
  • Capability to work at heights greater than 50 feet and comply with fall protection gear requirements.
  • Travel up to 70% of the time and availability for emergency call outs as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Rope repelling or on‑rope work at heights.
  • Specialized knowledge of FAA systems, equipment, procedures, and operations.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and replacement of tower, radome, and cab glass components.
  • Experience operating boom lifts, motorized forklifts, and similar heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work at heights and complete trip reports.
