Overview
Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking forward‑thinking HVAC Mechanics to support the fast‑growing HVAC business in North America. The role focuses on commercial HVACR service, maintenance, repair, and customer support.
Responsibilities- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
- Provide service on light commercial and heavy commercial equipment, including centrifugal, steam turbines, absorption machines, open‑drive screw chillers, ammonia systems.
- Work with Journeymen and Servicemen to conduct repair and troubleshooting of HVAC mechanical equipment.
- Use diagnostic tools (vibration equipment, dial indicators) to troubleshoot drive lines and mechanical alignments.
- Provide quotes and recommendations to customers, support commissioning and aftermarket service, and pursue upselling opportunities.
- Contribute to safety by adhering to company policies and reporting hazards.
- Travel up to 20% for branch customer support.
- Member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (UAPPFI).
- Minimum 3 years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in HVAC, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing.
- Experience in mechanical shaft alignment and vibration analysis.
- Willingly travel 10%–20% and pass a knowledge examination.
- Valid driver’s license and EPA refrigerant certification (when required).
- Self‑starter with strong communication and customer‑service skills.
Hourly pay of $41 as determined by the collective bargaining agreement. Benefits are provided through a local labor union under the applicable collective bargaining agreement. This position is a bargaining unit role.
