Job Description & How to Apply Below

About the role

We're a custom architectural millwork shop, and metal fabrication and welding make up the bulk of our production — doors, gates, frames, and structural pieces that have to be built right. We're looking for someone who can run the metal side of the shop with minimal hand-holding: read a project, plan the fabrication, execute clean welds, and keep our project managers in the loop the whole way through.

This isn't an entry-level position. You'll be trusted to take a set of specs and figure out how to build it — not wait to be told each step. If you thrive under pressure, own your work, and want a shop that will lean on you, we want to talk to you.

What you'll do
  • Fabricate and weld custom metal components — doors, gates, frames, brackets, and structural parts — from drawings and specs
  • Read blueprints and shop drawings and plan your own layout and sequencing
  • Coordinate directly with project managers on timelines, project changes, and priorities — you're the bridge between the office and the floor
  • Run MIG/TIG/stick welding as the job requires, on steel, stainless, and aluminum
  • Inspect your own and others' work for fit, finish, and weld quality before it leaves the shop
  • Help train and guide other shop team members on fabrication tasks
  • Keep projects moving without needing constant direction — flag problems early, solve what you can, escape what you can't
  • What you need
  • 3+ years of hands-on welding and metal fabrication experience (architectural, structural, or industrial)
  • Solid MIG and TIG skills; comfortable with steel, stainless, and aluminum
  • Can read blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols independently
  • Proven ability to manage your own workload and make decisions without being micromanaged
  • Clear communicator — comfortable talking directly with project managers about schedules and problems
  • Steady under deadline pressure, without cutting corners on quality or safety
Nice to have
  • Experience in architectural millwork, doors/gates, or custom fabrication shops
  • Prior lead, foreman, or supervisory experience
  • AWS certification(s)
Why work here
  • Small, hands-on team where your work is visible and valued
  • Variety — no two projects are identical
  • Room to take ownership and grow into a bigger role as the shop grows
