General Description:
Metro Technology Centers is accepting applications for a Mechanic who is responsible for providing mechanical maintenance and repair services on District-owned vehicles and heavy equipment.
Representative Duties:
- Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvements in services to customers.
- Supports and assists in strategic planning for developing the Performance Excellence Plan for Metro Technology Centers.
- Evaluates mechanical problems of vehicles and heavy equipment and determines work to be performed.
- Performs preventative maintenance on all types of District vehicles.
- Performs routine and specialized vehicle repairs up to and including the rebuilding of engines.
- Recommends when mechanical parts are to be rebuilt or new ones to be used; suggests replacement of vehicles when repair is not cost effective.
- Assists in the design and construction of improvements for the shop area.
- Inspects own work done on vehicles, including road test.
- Assists in maintaining the shop area.
- Maintains necessary records of work performed.
- Driving District vehicle to carry materials and supplies, and for moving from campus to campus.
- Demonstrates a positive, cooperative attitude toward work assignments and requirements.
- Complies with established work rules, ethics and organizational policies.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
General Qualification Requirements:
Education/
Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D. Three years' experience as a gas and diesel mechanic. (Above requirements may be met by an equivalent combination of education and experience.)
Special Requirements Licenses/Certificates:
Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License Class B with passenger and bus endorsement. Pass annual physical required for "Bus Driver's Certificate" Excellent driving record (indicating 3 or fewer moving violation citations during the past 3 years OSBI Criminal History Report will be completed immediately upon employment. Job may require flexible scheduling of work week.
