Job Description & How to Apply Below

Ergon Construction is a self-performing general contractor specializing in interior finishing systems. Where most builders broker the work out to subcontractors, our own craftsmen demo, frame, hang, finish, paint, trim, and tile the spaces we deliver, from ground-up new construction to complex renovations on commercial, healthcare, and federal projects. Building with our own hands is how we control quality, schedule, and safety, and it is why we invest in the people who do the building.

Every craftsman at Ergon has a defined career path, from Apprentice through Master Craftsman and into field leadership, with structured performance reviews, training, and advancement. We hire people who take pride in their work and intend to keep getting better at it.

Job Summary

As a Craftsman I, you will work alongside experienced finish craftsmen on interior construction and renovation projects, contributing real work from day one while learning Ergon's standards and building toward promotion to Craftsman II. You will take your daily assignments from the Working Foreman, with the Site Superintendent overseeing the project. This is a safety sensitive position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist experienced craftsmen across the full range of interior finishing work: selective demolition, framing, hanging and finishing drywall, paint prep and painting, insulation, doors and frames, trim and millwork, and tile setting.
  • Learn to read drawings and finish schedules, and learn Ergon's quality standards from the craftsmen and leadman beside you.
  • Load, unload, and stage materials, equipment, and tools; keep work areas stocked, swept, and organized so the crew never waits.
  • Stay productive between assignments: when a task wraps up, check in with the Working Foreman for the next one rather than waiting to be told.
  • Work safely, speak up about hazards, and help secure the site, tools, and stored materials at the end of each day.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in construction trades (e.g., carpentry, drywall, paint, tile, general labor support, or related finish work).
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as assigned. Travel varies by project: some work is local to the Oklahoma City metro, while other projects require short- or long-term overnight assignments (per diem provided).
  • Own set of standard personal hand tools. Ergon furnishes power tools, equipment, and PPE, and provides a tool allowance.
  • Reliable and punctual. Consistent, on-time attendance is a firm expectation. The crew's daily plan depends on every member being there.
  • Self-directed. Able to keep a productive pace and take initiative between assignments, with guidance from the Working Foreman.
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions, communicate professionally, and work as part of a close crew.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to construction layout, blueprint reading, or shop drawings.
  • OSHA 10/30 Certification.
  • Experience working on federal government projects and familiarity with their specific safety and quality control requirements.

, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
