The Preventative Maintenance (PM) / Lube Technician is responsible for performing scheduled preventative maintenance, lubrication services, inspections, and basic repairs on a wide variety of Caterpillar equipment in both field and shop environments. This position plays a critical role in maximizing machine uptime, identifying potential issues before they become failures, and ensuring equipment is serviced to Caterpillar and company standards.

- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance services on a wide variety of Caterpillar machines, including earthmoving and construction equipment.
- Complete engine oil, hydraulic oil, coolant, fuel, transmission, axle, and final drive services according to Caterpillar maintenance schedules.
- Lubricate machines and inspect critical components for wear, damage, leaks, and other potential concerns.
- Conduct machine inspections and document findings, making recommendations for repairs or additional maintenance as needed.
- Perform fluid sampling and other condition monitoring procedures to support predictive maintenance programs.
- Complete minor service repairs and component replacements associated with preventative maintenance.
- Accurately complete work orders, inspection reports, service documentation, and required electronic records using company systems (SIS Web, SIMS, Rental Man, work orders, parts orders, and related applications).
- Operate safely while following all company and customer safety procedures, including Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).Maintain assigned service truck, tools, and equipment in a clean and professional condition.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while communicating maintenance findings and recommendations to customers and supervisors.
- High school diploma or GED; one to three years of preventative maintenance, diesel technician, heavy equipment, or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of Caterpillar equipment or other heavy construction and earthmoving equipment.
- Basic understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, powertrain components, electrical systems, and machine maintenance practices.
- Experience performing preventative maintenance, lubrication services, inspections, and fluid changes on heavy equipment is preferred.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain service tools, lifting devices, fluid handling equipment, and diagnostic equipment.
- Clean driving record and CDL or the ability to obtain a CDL within 60 days of employment. Must be at least 21 years of age to operate a field service vehicle.
- Ability to read and interpret safety procedures, maintenance manuals, service information, and technical documentation.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to use service software, maintenance databases, and electronic work order systems.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify maintenance concerns before they result in equipment failures.
- May be required to complete a DOT physical.
- Successfully complete Work Steps assessment.
