Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Waste Connections, an industry leader in waste management services, is seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our technical and maintenance team. As a pivotal part of our operations, this role involves maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, crucial to the efficient execution of our waste collection and processing. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical acumen coupled with a commitment to environmental stewardship and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and vehicles used in waste management operations, including but not limited to front-end loaders, bulldozers, compactors, and heavy trucks.
• Diagnose and repair any mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical issues ensuing minimal downtime and disruption to operations.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Comply with EPA, OSHA, and local environmental regulations by understanding and implementing all aspects of waste equipment maintenance and repair.
• Document and maintain detailed logs of equipment maintenance history and repairs.
• Conduct safety checks on equipment and prepare vehicles for operational service.
• Participate in training and safety meetings to ensure up-to-date practices on health and safety standards.

Required Skills

• Profound knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
