Oklahoma City University is hiring two HVAC Maintenance Technicians!

As an HVAC Maintenance Technician at OCU, you'll help keep our campus buildings, classrooms, offices, and facilities comfortable, safe, and operating efficiently. You'll work with a variety of HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and mechanical systems while collaborating with experienced Facilities professionals.

What You'll DoIn this role, you'll:
- Repair, maintain, and assist with the installation of HVAC systems, refrigerators, freezers, plumbing systems, appliances, and other campus equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical systems.
- Assist with inspecting and testing air conditioning and refrigeration equipment to ensure proper operation and efficiency.
- Test and adjust thermostatic controls, blowers, refrigerant systems, and other HVAC components.
- Assist with maintaining accurate records related to equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, and refrigerant/chemical use.
- Install, repair, and renovate plumbing and HVAC systems as needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints, block diagrams, electrical schematics, and ladder diagrams.
- Work with components such as motors, bearings, pumps, compressors, starters, couplings, sheaves, pneumatic systems, and air-handling equipment.
- Respond to daily work orders and provide general Facilities maintenance support across campus.
- Follow required safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, chemical safety, PPE, hazard communication, lifting procedures, and fire safety.
- Work collaboratively with Facilities team members while also being comfortable working independently.
- Assist with campus events, equipment moves, seasonal maintenance, and other Facilities needs as requested.
- Participate in emergency maintenance response, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 18 months of experience in the HVAC field
. - A combination of education, training, and/or experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the essential duties may be considered in place of the minimum qualifications.
We're looking for someone with knowledge or experience in areas such as:
- HVAC and refrigeration systems and the refrigeration cycle
- Equipment and component identification
- Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting
- Electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints
- DX equipment and pneumatic components
- Motors, bearings, pumps, compressors, starters, and related mechanical components
- Soft soldering and repair of refrigerant, pneumatic, and water lines
- Workplace safety procedures and equipment
