Under general supervision, the Maintenance Technician II performs non-routine, complex maintenance and repairs on library system buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position will be at the MLS Service Center, located at 300 NE 50th St. in Oklahoma City, OK 73105.
Work HoursFull‑time, 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional on‑call hours. Not exempt from the FLSA and classified as safety‑sensitive.

Qualifications- High School diploma or GED
- Two or more years of progressively responsible related experience
- Or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Required at time of employment:
- Valid State Driver’s License
- Current Motor Vehicle Insurance
- Acceptable Driving Record per Driver Safety Procedures
- Oklahoma HVAC Mechanical Journeyman License
- EPA, CFC (chlorofluorocarbons) Universal certification
- OSHA approved Forklift Operator’s Certification
Preferred Qualifications and
Competencies:
- Oklahoma Boiler Operator License
- Knowledge of principles and practices of building maintenance and repair, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical system maintenance and repair.
- Skill in operation and use of all assigned equipment utilized in the performance of essential functions.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with internal staff, citizens, and other departmental staff in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Mental and physical abilities: reading and interpreting safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and related documents; ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Physical requirements:
frequent standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, speaking and hearing; lifting and moving up to 50 pounds regularly; occasional lifting over 50 pounds requires a lifting device or a team of at least two employees.
