Description

The Fleet Mechanic works under the Fleet Manager to perform maintenance and repairs on company vehicles, helping keep as much work in-house as possible. This role handles inspections, diagnostics, routine service, and mechanical repairs on a mixed fleet ranging from compact cars to heavy-duty trucks and semis. The goal is to reduce downtime, avoid unnecessary outsourcing, and keep the fleet safe, reliable, and job-ready.

Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous automotive, diesel, fleet, heavy-equipment, or related mechanical experience preferred.
  • Must possess a current, valid driver’s license.
  • Must successfully complete required pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Working knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines and vehicle systems.
  • Experience performing mechanical repairs on cars, light-duty trucks, and/or heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Ability and willingness to work on a diverse fleet ranging from compact passenger vehicles to heavy-duty trucks and semis.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, jacks, lifts, and other shop equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand service information, repair procedures, maintenance schedules, and equipment specifications.
  • Basic computer and mobile-device skills for documenting maintenance, repairs, parts, and vehicle status.
  • Ability to accurately document completed work and communicate vehicle conditions or additional repair needs to the Fleet Manager.
  • Ability to prioritize repairs based on safety, operational needs, and vehicle availability.
  • Ability to work independently while following direction and established fleet procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing repairs correctly and safely.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, working underneath vehicles, and lifting or moving tools and vehicle components.
  • Willingness to follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, fleet procedures, and applicable shop and vehicle safety practices.
