Role DescriptionThis full-time, on-site HVAC Mechanic role is located in the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area at the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden. The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems that support animal habitats, guest areas, and operational facilities. Daily tasks include conducting routine inspections, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently.
The role also involves responding to service requests, coordinating with other facilities staff and contractors, documenting work performed, and communicating clearly with internal customers to minimize downtime and maintain a comfortable, climate-controlled environment across the Zoo.
- Demonstrated proficiency in HVAC systems, including installation, diagnostics, and repair.
- Strong background in general Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair for building and facility systems.
- Experience performing Preventive Maintenance to extend equipment life and prevent system failures.
- Ability to provide responsive, professional Customer Service to internal stakeholders and vendors.
- Relevant technical certification or licensure in HVAC or building systems; vocational training or apprenticeship highly preferred.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and proper use of tools and equipment.
- Ability to work in an outdoor, animal-focused environment, including occasional work in varying weather conditions.
- Effective communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
