Minimum QualificationsBackground Investigator, Level I – Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or four years of technical clerical office work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Background Investigator, Level II – Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and one year of professional or technical administrative experience in business or public administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of qualifying experience for each year of the required education.
Background Investigator, Level III – Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and one year of professional or technical administrative experience in business or public administration plus one year of professional business or public administration experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of qualifying experience for each year of the required education.
Technical administrative experience would include highly complex clerical work gained under the direct supervision of a professional supervisor or manager.
Preference StatementPreference may be given to applicants with education or experience in Child Welfare, Child Care Services, or Criminal Justice.
Job Responsibilities- Perform administrative and confidential examination of fingerprints for applicants through manual or automated fingerprint identification systems.
- Capture fingerprints in the Livescan office and with the mobile unit.
- Maintain database and records for background check results.
- Log incoming requests, review requests for completeness, answer phone calls, and assist callers with processes.
- Contact courts, district attorney offices, and local law enforcement to obtain necessary documents to complete background check requests.
- Communicate with OSBI and Idemia for fingerprint investigations.
- Provide technical support to Child Care providers, Child Care Services and Child Welfare Services.
- Collect information from background investigations and criminal history searches on current and prospective employees, community partners, vendors, and volunteers for Child Welfare and Child Care Licensing programs.
