Outreach & Admissions Program Coordinator

Job DescriptionThe Sooner Job Challenge program’s residential phase serves up to 60 “At Risk” youth ages 17‑21. The program combines classroom work, technical school training, career development, community service, physical training, and team‑building activities to enhance life‑skills and employability potential. Additional major elements include career skills, academic achievement, community building, outreach, fitness, resiliency, leadership/followership, citizenship, healthy living, discipline, physical fitness, practical job skills and character development.
It operates 24‑hour per day, 7‑day per week.
- Operate independently to plan and conduct program information and outreach.
- Develop marketing strategies to promote the Sooner Job Challenge program and maintain employer partnerships via direct interface, training sessions, job fairs, and recruitment events.
- Seek and schedule opportunities for students to represent the program at high‑profile community outreach and service events.
- Plan and coordinate field trip activities and events with educational, recreational, community service, athletic, or creative purpose.
- Develop and sustain partnerships with civic organizations, municipalities, school districts, government agencies, etc. to advance the program’s public image.
- Design and manage web‑based tools such as web pages and social network sites as program resources.
- Prepare, edit, and distribute brochures, flyers, and handouts that promote the program.
- Conduct interviews with prospective students to evaluate potential.
- Collaborate with department heads of the Thunderbird Challenge Program to review records during admissions.
- Travel at least once a month to Thunderbird Challenge Program, Pryor, OK for recruiting activities.
- Create press releases and manage regular social media feeds to promote the program.
- Attend community events to build relationships and promote the program’s public image.
- Attend scheduled student events, program and departmental meetings, and trainings as required.
- Knowledge and experience in building community partnerships and youth development.
- Self‑motivated, enthusiastic, and community‑driven.
- Proven skills in leadership, group facilitation, marketing, and communication.
- Excellent organizational skills and proficiency with technology for time‑management and organization.
- Ability to create and maintain strong community collaborations.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
- Positive attitude and capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
BA/BS in Communications, Public Relations or a related field; plus three (3) years of experience in community outreach, public relations, or a related field.
Licenses and CertificatesValid driver’s license.
BenefitsThis full‑time state position includes matching contributions to a retirement plan, 11 holidays, and a minimum of 15 days of annual and sick leave per year. - Serves a 12‑month trial period.
- Contingent on a favorable NCIC/OSBI background check.

- Requires valid driver’s license.
- Exempt from FLSA status.

The position is located at the Sooner Job Challenge Program in Oklahoma City, OK. Travel may be required at the employee’s expense; reimbursement will be processed within 45 days.
