** Basic Purpose**:

Positions in this job lead a group of individuals responsible for collating, evaluating, and analyzing criminal information, suspicious activity reports, and open-source information to aid in investigations and identifying criminal trends and potential threats.
** Typical Functions**:
· Oversees the daily operations of assigned analysts; conducts timely reviews of assigned analyst’s reports, products, and projects.
· Oversees the Digital Forensics Unit, cellular telephone exploitation program, and ensures steps are taken to stay current with changing technologies.
· May conduct examinations of cellular telephones or other electronic communication devices as a technical expert.
· Provides direction and support for interns assigned to assist with the Intelligence Division.
· Monitors overall efficiency and quality of Intelligence processes used and products produced; looks for opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness of analytic staff and products.
· Seeks to provide quality products to end customers and ensures all requests are met in a timely manner.
· Serves as a liaison between ODOC Law Enforcement Units, as well as Federal, State, and Local law enforcement agencies including both sworn and analytic personnel.
· Oversees operations and equipment of the ODOC Law Enforcement Communications Unit.
· Oversees daily operations of staff at the ODOC Watch Center.
· Ensures OLETS / NCIC equipment, policies, and staff remain in compliance with state and federal regulations.
· Serves as System Administrator on various ODOC Law Enforcement Database Systems.

** Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies**:

Knowledge of procedures and techniques of business communications; of spelling, punctuation, and business English; of computer applications; of business arithmetic; of public relations; of sources, tools, and services used in securing and evaluating data on crimes and criminals; of criminal intelligence and criminal investigative techniques; of cross reference filing procedures; of supervisory principles and practices; and of technical report writing. Knowledge of Forensic Science, Evidentiary Procedures, and the concept and process of Chain of Custody.

Skill in interpersonal communications; management and supervisory processes within ODOC, State, and Federal Law Enforcement guidelines; and computer and electronics use and manipulation. Ability to present data and other information in a clear and concise manner; to gather and analyze data; to organize and present facts clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; to recognize developing criminal activity patterns;

to train and coordinate the activities of others; to establish and maintain professional working relationships with others; to use computer applications for numerous tasks including analysis, word processing, and charting; to analyze data or information; to communicate with supervisors, peers, or subordinates; to organize, plan, and prioritize work; to interpret the meaning of information for others; and to update and use relevant knowledge when communicating with people outside the organization.
