Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
We are seeking a software engineer to join the Airborne Warning System Simulation (AWSSim) team to design, implement, and maintain simulation components and plugins. The engineer will contribute to the framework, sensor models, and drivers, and will work closely with program stakeholders to integrate simulations into test environments. AWSSim (Airborne Warning System Simulation) is a product‑line software simulation effort that develops and maintains digital‑twin Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and sensor plugins used across multiple airborne and associated systems.
Our team builds a unified simulation framework that models sensors, platforms, and environments to create realistic test environments for software deployed on airborne platforms, ground systems, satellites, and other systems.
- Design, architect, and develop simulation models, visualizations, virtual environments/platforms, and frameworks to enhance test performance, safety, and durability of software and hardware systems throughout the entire product lifecycle.
- Partner with stakeholders to review and identify simulation requirements and dynamics of the systems being simulated.
- Perform design, modeling, simulation, testing, and analysis to assess and optimize overall system performance and capabilities.
- Perform data collection and processing for use in simulations.
- Validate, verify, and refine simulation software code, models, simulations, test procedures, and test environments; execute test procedures and document results, modeling performance against real‑world data, test data, benchmarks, or other similar models.
- Document and maintain technical code, algorithms, specifications, and descriptions of simulation models.
- Partner with cross‑functional engineering teams to enable integration of simulation software with hardware devices and systems.
- Implement current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and methods in the simulation environment.
- Modernize, migrate, sustain, and update simulation software to adapt legacy systems to new operating systems.
- Perform simulation software project management functions.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain U.S. Secret – Final post‑start clearance.
- 2+ years of software development experience.
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science program and 2+ years of related work experience.
- Or Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years of directly related work experience.
- Or 10+ years of related, relevant experience.
- Experience with sensor models, simulation concepts, or digital‑twin development.
- Experience collaborating with cross‑functional engineering teams to integrate simulation software with hardware devices and systems.
- Experience implementing current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and methods in the simulation engineering environment.
- Experience modernizing, migrating, sustaining, and updating simulation software to adapt legacy systems to new operating systems.
- Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain it.
- Experience with C++ and Java.
- Experience with Linux OS.
- Drug‑free workplace; post‑offer applicants and employees are subject to drug testing in accordance with Boeing policies.
