Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to support our Aeronautics Systems sector. The selected candidate will join a team of software engineers to design, develop, test, and integrate safety‑critical embedded real‑time software for flight, mission, lab, and tools applications.
Responsibilities- Support the development of Strategic Operating Units, executing sustainment and modernization programs.
- Contribute to software engineering initiatives for multiple programs, including software design, development, testing, integration, and Dev Ops practices.
- Use a variety of software languages, technologies, and industry best practices.
- Support all phases of the software development life cycle for flight, mission, lab, and tools software.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 14years of software engineering experience.
- Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 12years of software engineering experience.
- PhD degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 9years of software engineering experience.
- Familiarity with safety‑critical embedded real‑time software.
- Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle and an Agile framework (Product Owner, Scrum Master, or team member).
- Proficiency in C, C++, Python, Power Shell, VBScript, Bash, and/or Korn Shell for safety‑critical applications/systems.
- Experience architecting, designing, implementing, integrating, verifying, and qualifying safety‑critical embedded real‑time software on RTOS such as VxWorks, Integrity, and Real‑Time Embedded Linux.
- Experience with static and dynamic code analysis and fuzzing tools such as Coverity, Fortify, and/or Sonar Qube.
- Experience with software change control, change management, and CI/CD tools.
- Ability to obtain, transfer, and maintain a final U.S. adjudicated government Secret clearance and any required program access within a reasonable period of time.
- Active U.S. government Secret clearance.
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal communication at all levels.
- Experience with Agile software development, object‑oriented architectures, design, programming, debugging, and hardware‑software integration and testing.
- Experience with software change control, change management, code quality, static analysis, and CI/CD tools such as Atlassian suite, Jira, Git Hub, Git Lab, Sonar Qube, Coverity, and/or Jenkins.
- Experience architecting, designing, modeling (Rhapsody or Cameo), implementing, maintaining, integrating, and debugging OO C++ software on real‑time operating systems such as VxWorks, Integrity, and Real‑Time Embedded Linux.
- Experience with DOORS and software requirement specification testing using simulators and automated scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, and/or Bash.
- Experience with static and dynamic code analysis tools and fuzzing tools such as Coverity, Fortify, and/or Sonar Qube.
- Experience with software network interfaces and troubleshooting networks (TCP/IP, UDP, LAN, VLAN, SNMP, or others).
Primary Level Salary Range: $ – $. The range is a general guideline; actual offers may vary based on scope of responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives depending on role.
