Position Summary

Position requires the transportation of Mid‑Del students grades K‑12th. Driver will be required to pick‑up students at specific stops and safely transport to school in the AM and then back home in the PM. Opportunities will be given to assist with field trips on a voluntary basis.

Qualifications
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Must have or obtain a minimum CDL, Class B license with all required endorsements and school bus certification (training can be provided). Must pass a physical, drug testing, background felony check and background drive check.
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to compose grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule or blueprint form.
Responsibilities
  • Obeys all traffic laws and observes all mandatory safety regulations.
  • Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
  • Reports undisciplined student to the proper authority.
  • Performs proper pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections.
  • Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
  • Discharges students only at authorized stops.
  • Reports accidents and completes required reports.
  • Uses professional conduct at all times.
  • Fulfills Board Policy to exhibit neat, clean and orderly dress and appearance.
  • Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.
Skills and Abilities
  • Physical demands: frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, move more than 100 pounds, and move up to 50 pounds; reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; sit occasionally.
  • Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: exposed to fumes or airborne particles, high or precarious places, outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold/heat, risk of electrical shock, vibration.
  • Noise level: somewhat loud to extremely loud.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
