DescriptionPosition Summary
The Inventory & Receiving Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing all inventory control and receiving activities to ensure the accurate tracking, storage, and distribution of materials and supplies. This role plays a critical part in maintaining efficient operations by ensuring timely receipt, proper documentation, and the integrity of inventory systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure stock is accurate and sufficient to meet operational needs.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Maintain and update inventory records in the system with precision and timeliness.
- Implement best practices for inventory control to minimize shrinkage and optimize space utilization.
Receiving Operations
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy, quality, and compliance with purchase orders.
- Document and record all incoming items in inventory systems.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to resolve any shipment issues, including damaged or missing items.
- Ensure proper labeling and storage of all received goods.
Logistics and Coordination
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely distribution of inventory and supplies.
- Support shipping operations by preparing outgoing items, verifying packing lists, and arranging logistics as needed.
- Manage return processes, including defective or surplus items, and ensure proper documentation.
Compliance and Safety
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements related to inventory and receiving processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in inventory management, receiving, or a related role.
Skills and
Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.
- Basic math skills and the ability to reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal teams and vendors.
- Physical ability to lift, move, and manage items up to [insert weight].
Certifications (Optional):
- Forklift certification preferred.
- APICS or related inventory management certification is a plus.
Work Environment
- Primarily warehouse or storage facility environment, with occasional office duties.
- May require standing, bending, or lifting for extended periods.
- Adherence to safety protocols is required.
