The primary role of the Assistant Clerk of Congress, under the direction of the Clerk of Congress, performs wide variety of tasks to support the Osage Nation Legislative Branch by coordinating and managing committee proceedings and procedures, ensuring committee meeting minutes are accurate (record keeping) and timely posting of agendas/meetings in accordance with Osage Law. The Assistant Clerk of Congress serves as the committee clerk and parliamentarian for all the Osage Nation Congressional Standing Committees This position is also responsible for payables and travel for the legislative branch and other duties as assigned by the Clerk of Congress and the Osage Nation Congress.
- Two year of college or/technical school and/or at least one year of work experience in a similar field is preferred;
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Access, Adobe, etc.);
- Must become and maintain a Public Notary certification;
- Must become and maintain a Parliamentarian certification within 12 months of hire date;
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check;
- Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing;
- Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance;
- Must have high level problem solving skills;
- Must possess basic accounting skills;
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions;
- Should have excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Must be able to work with multiple personalities;
- Must be able to push, pull, drag and/or tote 50 lbs;
- Must have the ability to work independently;
- Must have the ability to transition from one task to another in a quick manner to maintain the flow of the legislative process;
- Must be able to recognize and maintain confidentiality of legislative documents;
- Must keep confidential all information learned in the course of employment that is a confidential nature;
- Must be able to maintain composure, tact and professional attitude during stressful situations;
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize and prioritize the workload;
- Must be courteous and respectful and maintain a professional relationship with all employees, constituents, congressional visitors, officials from other branches, congressional members and other staff;
- Must demonstrate moral character, honesty and fairness;
- Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed and even without prior notice, if the legislative branch is in session;
- Must be willing to attend trainings and travel;
