Job Description

The Master Scheduler is responsible for planning, staffing, and scheduling personnel resources in accordance with applicable policies, standards, and contract requirements. The role ensures adequate coverage of security posts and essential positions, monitors workforce management processes at the local facility level, and manages schedule/shift adjustments to optimize adherence and staffing efficiencies.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain the approved workforce management platform, including development of shift rosters, scheduling of annual and partner‑mandated training, and determination of scheduled absences.
  • Coordinate leave requests in accordance with policy to ensure adequate coverage of posts.
  • Work with facility management to revise shift cards as needed to balance staff level and experience.
  • Create schedules using fair scheduling practices that ensure safe and secure facility operations, contract compliance, schedule adherence, and achieve financially impacting goals.
  • Serve as a member of the Incident Command System and provide updated staffing and schedule information to facility management.
  • Develop working partnerships with Human Resources, Payroll, and Training departments to ensure schedule‑related items are properly communicated and documented.
  • Act as the primary contact for the overtime tracking process and record key overtime reasons into Kronos.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with facility management to discuss issues related to any schedule‑impacting items.
  • Ensure that each employee receives required training and verify that all training requirements are satisfied prior to scheduling.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED (minimum).
  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • One year of experience with shift scheduling (or one year of qualifying education in office administration, business, or a related field).
  • Two years of correctional industry experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience with Kronos or other timekeeping systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical, oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of workforce management theory and best practices preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Minimum age 21 years.
