Southwest Oklahoma Community Action Group, Inc. provides a non‑exempt position to assist in the early childhood classroom. The role supports the Teacher in implementing lesson plans, meal service, documentation, cleaning, bus monitoring, and assistance with children who have disabilities.
Pay Levels- Level1:$13.00 hourly– Entry level. Must plan to obtain CDA.
- Level2:$13.50 hourly– Has CDA or Child Development Assistant Certificate.
- Level3:$15.00 hourly– Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Directly supervised by the School Supervisor. Receives general instructions from the Teacher. Position does not have supervisory duties and guides volunteers.
PrincipalDuties & Responsibilities
- High School Diploma or GED with experience in Early Childhood or child care as paid or volunteer service. CDA or higher education is a plus. Must be on the OK Registry within 6 months. Must study and obtain Reliability Certification for observations in Teaching Strategies GOLD during first year. Current First Aid/AED/Pediatric CPR required.
- Oklahoma driver’s license required with acceptable motor vehicle record and state minimum insurance.
- Annual Tuberculin screen and initial physical required.
- Negative pre‑employment drug screen required with current photo identification. Ongoing drug testing during employment per SOCAG Personnel Policies.
- Criminal background checks, including fingerprinting, required per Oklahoma statutes and program regulations.
- Must be able to bend, kneel, stand, sit on the level of the children served, lift up to 50 pounds, and use a bleach solution for cleaning.
- Must be available during scheduled hours. Attendance is important.
- Must interact positively with children using appropriate words and actions.
- Must respond and assist during emergency medical care, safety, fire prevention, and sanitation of children and center environment.
