Chenega Healthcare Services is seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to provide preventive oral healthcare services and patient education in a clinical setting. The Dental Hygienist will work collaboratively with dentists and healthcare professionals to promote optimal oral health, perform comprehensive dental hygiene procedures, and ensure high-quality patient care in accordance with established clinical standards and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive dental hygiene assessments and collect patient medical and dental histories.
- Conduct oral examinations and identify signs of periodontal disease, oral abnormalities, and other dental concerns.
- Remove plaque, calculus, and stains through scaling, root planing, and polishing procedures.
- Apply preventive treatments including fluoride applications and dental sealants.
- Obtain and process dental radiographs in accordance with safety standards.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Document patient assessments, treatments, and care plans accurately in the electronic health record.
- Assist dentists during examinations and treatment planning as needed.
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure compliance with OSHA, CDC, and facility policies.
- Prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
- Monitor patient comfort and provide compassionate care throughout treatment procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain continuing education requirements.
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution.
- Current and unrestricted Dental Hygienist license in the state of practice.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent clinical Dental Hygienist experience preferred.
- Proficiency in dental radiography and preventive dental procedures.
- Knowledge of infection control standards and dental safety protocols.
- Strong communication and patient education skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Experience working in government, military, tribal, public health, or community health settings.
- Familiarity with electronic dental records systems.
- Local anesthesia certification (if applicable by state regulations).
- Experience with diverse patient populations across all age groups.
