About this Position
The Department of Music at Langston University invites applications for Adjunct Instructors to teach across a broad range of instructional areas within the music curriculum. Adjunct faculty may teach applied lessons in their primary performance area (instrument or voice) and may also be assigned to teach core music courses as needed. Core teaching areas may include instrument or voice technique courses, music survey/appreciation, theory, aural skills, small ensemble participation or directing, and other related subjects.
These in-person positions require a consistent campus presence aligned with instructional responsibilities.

Responsibilities
* Teach applied instrumental or vocal lessons in the candidate's primary performance area.
* Teach core music courses as assigned, which may include:
* Instrument or voice technique courses
* Music survey or music appreciation
* Music theory
* Aural skills
* Small ensemble direction or participation
* Other related departmental courses
* Develop and deliver course materials and assessments that align with departmental expectations.
* Maintain a supportive, student-centered learning environment and provide timely instructional feedback.
* Maintain an on-campus presence appropriate to scheduled teaching, student support, and departmental engagement.
* Uphold the mission, values, and academic standards of the Department of Music.
Required Qualifications
* Master's
* Master's degree in Music, Music Education, or a closely related field (MM, MME, MA, or equivalent).
(degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
* Demonstrated expertise and professional experience in the candidate's primary performance area (instrument or voice), evidenced through teaching, performance, or a combination of both.
* Prior teaching experience at the post secondary level, community music programs, K-12 settings, or private studio instruction.
* Experience teaching applied music lessons (instrumental or vocal) to students at varying skill levels.
* Working knowledge of core music curriculum areas such as music theory, aural skills, music appreciation/survey, technique courses, or ensemble participation/direction.
* Experience developing and delivering course materials, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with learning outcomes.
* Ability to provide constructive, timely feedback and support student academic and artistic development.
* Experience working collaboratively within a department and contributing to a student-centered learning environment.
* Availability to maintain an in-person campus presence consistent with instructional and departmental responsibilities.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
* Earned terminal degree in music or a related field (DMA, DME, PhD, or equivalent).
* Experience teaching applied lessons and/or academic music courses at the college or university level.
