ASL Interpreter | Stroud, Oklahoma

Location: Stroud

Take your professional skills as a Sign Language Interpreter and support a profoundly deaf kindergarten student in an educational setting. This contract position is scheduled from August 2026 through May 2027, working 35 hours each week at a single school site. You'll partner 1:1 within a self-contained classroom environment, making a real impact on a young learner's daily communication and access to instruction.

What We're Looking For:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in K-12 schools preferred
• Background in teaching or interpreting for children, especially early childhood
• Knowledge of educational settings and practices
• Ability to adapt interpreting style to meet student and teacher needs
• Professional certification or licensure as required by state
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative attitude
• Commitment to confidentiality and student advocacy

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, activities, and conversations for a profoundly deaf kindergarten student in a self-contained classroom
• Facilitate clear communication between the student, teachers, and peers
• Provide support during classwork, group projects, and school events
• Collaborate with educators and staff on best practices for inclusive education
• Assist with visual aids and other resources to support comprehension
• Maintain accurate records and follow school protocols
• Champion equal access to the curriculum and a positive learning environment
