Middle School Math Teacher

This role focuses on helping students navigate the critical transition from basic arithmetic to the abstract worlds of Algebra and Geometry. Teaching formulas; logical reasoning, persistence, and problem-solving skills to students during their middle school years.

• Instructional Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that cater to diverse learning styles.
• Differentiation: Adapt the curriculum for a wide range of abilities, providing "challenge" material for advanced learners and "scaffolding" for students who struggle with numeracy.
• Assessment & Data: Design formative and summative assessments to track progress. Use data to identify "learning gaps" and adjust teaching strategies.
• Classroom Management: Establish a positive, structured environment that manages the unique social-emotional needs of middle schoolers.
• Integration of Technology: Utilize tools like interactive whiteboards and math software (e.g., Khan Academy) to enhance conceptual understanding.
• Collaboration: Work with the math department to ensure vertical alignment (making sure 7th graders are actually ready for 8th-grade math).

• Patience & Empathy: You must be able to handle "math anxiety" with grace.
• Subject Mastery: A deep understanding of ratios, proportions, integers, linear equations, and introductory geometry.
• Communication: The ability to explain a single concept in three different ways until it "clicks" for a student.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferred in Mathematics or Secondary Education.
• Certification: Valid State Teaching License in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Middle Level Mathematics (Grades 5-8).
• Clearances: Successful completion of all state-mandated background and fingerprint checks.
