Job DescriptionSkiatook Public Schools is accepting applications for a Special Education Paraprofessional for the Secondary level grades 6-12 for the 2026-27 school year.
QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate Degree or 48 Hours of passing College Credit or have passed the Oklahoma General Education Test (OGET), Para Pro Test or Work Keys Test. MUST PROVIDE OFFICIAL DOCUMENTATION.
Employee must be able to walk for 7 hours. Job requires occasional bending/stooping/squatting/crouching/kneeling, climbing, reaching above the shoulder and pushing/pulling. Job requires occasional carrying/lifting up to 50 pounds.
Job requires employee to use both hands for repetitive actions involving simple/firm grasping and fine manipulation.
Employee must possess record keeping skills and hearing and speaking abilities to monitor equipment and communicate with employees, students, and parents.
The Board of Education and Superintendent may approve alternatives to the listed qualifications.
CONTRACT: Days school is in session
WORKING HOURS: 7.5 daily
REPORTS TO: Classroom Teacher/Principal
EVALUATED BY: Principal
SUPERVISES: Students
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists student with physical basic life functions.
- May be required to lift and position student during the day.
- May have to assist student with special feeding or tube feeding and provide hands-on personal care.
- Supervises students outside of the classroom.
- May require lifting student in and out of wheelchair, occasional riding of the bus from school to home in absence of the regular bus assistant.
- Assists in basic record keeping and/or journaling and assists in carrying out the approved behavior plan.
- With training, carries out the basic functions of routine care presented in Individual Health Plans.
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully-licensed teachers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skiatook Public Schools offers competitive pay and benefits including paid holidays and health benefits. Starting salary will be based on applicant qualifications and/or work history.
The district also provides on-site daycare for staff members.
Any offer of employment is contingent upon the passing a felony criminal background check and approval by the Board of Education.
Tier 2 paraprofessionals receive a stipend of $500 per year above their base pay.
