Severe and Profound Special Education Teacher

Location: Davis

Davis Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Severe and Profound Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and support to students with significant cognitive, physical, medical, behavioral, and/or developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment that promotes student growth, independence, communication, and functional life skills.

The teacher will develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs, and provide direct instruction in areas such as communication, academics, daily living skills, social-emotional development, and vocational readiness. Responsibilities include monitoring student progress, maintaining compliance with state and federal special education requirements, collaborating with related service providers and general education staff, and maintaining regular communication with parents and guardians.

The successful candidate will work closely with paraprofessionals, therapists, administrators, and families to ensure students receive comprehensive support and meaningful educational opportunities. Additional responsibilities include managing student behavior through positive behavioral interventions, assisting with personal care needs when required, and fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates each student's unique abilities and achievements.

Candidates should demonstrate patience, flexibility, strong organizational skills, and a genuine passion for serving students with significant disabilities. Preference will be given to individuals holding appropriate Oklahoma Special Education certification or those eligible for certification. Experience working with students with severe and profound disabilities, autism, multiple disabilities, or complex medical needs is preferred.
