Position Overview
Paoli Public Schools is seeking a passionate, high-impact High School English Teacher to inspire and educate our student body. In our tight-knit, small-school environment, you will have the unique opportunity to truly know your students, track their growth across multiple grade levels, and directly shape their academic success.
The ideal candidate blends high behavioral and academic expectations with a supportive classroom culture. You will be responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in literature, composition, and critical thinking, preparing every Paoli Pug for post-secondary success.
Core Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery:
Plan and deliver highly engaging, rigorous lessons in English Language Arts (Literature, Composition, Grammar, and Vocabulary) aligned with the Oklahoma Academic Standards.
Data-Driven Interventions:
Utilize iReady benchmarking data to identify student learning gaps, track growth, and differentiate instruction effectively to support all learners.
Classroom Management:
Implement proven instructional frameworks-specifically utilizing the Teach Like a Champion model-to establish strong classroom routines, maximize instructional time, and maintain a high-standard, positive learning environment.
Student Mentorship:
Foster a supportive, growth-oriented classroom culture that reflects the pride and values of Paoli Pug Nation.
Collaboration & Growth:
Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and district-wide professional development to continuously refine instructional practices.
Community Integration:
Partner with families through regular communication regarding student progress, and support district-wide initiatives like our community family engagement events.
Key Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in English Education, English, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Certification:
Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Secondary English (Grades 6-12) or immediate eligibility to obtain alternative certification.
Skills & Experience:
Familiarity with the Teach Like a Champion framework and iReady diagnostic tools is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of early and secondary literacy development strategies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a small, collaborative rural school environment.
Required Qualifications Oklahoma Teaching Certification and Background Check
