Instructional Assistant
Jenks Public Schools Freshman Academy - Jenks, Oklahoma
Position OverviewPosition: Instructional Assistant
Reports to: Principal and Instructional Lead Teacher
Supervises: None
Position Goal: Assist certified staff in meeting individual student needs within a variety of instructional settings.
- Tier 1: Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Tier 2: High School diploma or GED required.
- Meet Every Student Succeeds Act requirements:
- Completed at least 2 years of study (48 hours) at a postsecondary institution.
- Hold an associate’s degree or higher.
- Obtained a National Career Readiness Certificate through successful completion of the ACT, Work Keys Assessment, or passed the Paraprofessional Assessment Test with a score of 455 or higher.
- Passed the Oklahoma General Education (OGET) Test.
- Bilingual in English and another district prominent language.
- Continued Qualifications for Tier 1 and Tier 2:
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with students and adults.
- Computer application skills.
- Satisfy all district requirements regarding physical health and citizenship.
- Acceptable alternatives to the above qualifications as determined by the Board.
- Provide reinforcement of math, English, reading, social studies, science, and other subjects.
- Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce or remediate learning materials introduced by the teacher.
- Assist in the supervision of students.
- Check notebooks, correct papers, record attendance and grades, supervise testing and assessments, and maintain records as assigned.
- Serve as source of information and help to substitute teachers in the absence of the regular teacher, or act as substitute teacher when assigned.
- Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
- Organize, distribute, collect, and prepare materials such as project materials and student manipulatives.
- Supervise students in various instructional settings.
- Collaborate with teachers across curricular areas.
- Assist with a variety of instructional situations.
- Execute additional assignments as designated by the principal or lead teacher.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Term: Nine (9) month classified hourly contract
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay: $17.68 per hour

Position Type: Full-Time
- Stand, sit, twist, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch for extended periods.
- Lifting or moving up to 20 pounds with hands and tools.
- Repetitive use of fingers and hands.
- Occasional reach overhead, lift or move up to 40 pounds.
- Visual: close, color, peripheral, and depth perception; adjust focus.
- Hearing/Speaking:
Adequate for exchanging information.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
