The teacher will be expected to establish and foster a positive classroom environment where students are given the opportunity to develop academically and socially. The teacher will also maintain compliance with district policies and initiatives as supervised by the site administrator. Positive and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and all stakeholders are expected.
Qualification Requirements- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
- Teaching certification in Early Childhood or Elementary Education recognized by the State of Oklahoma
- Previous experience with children or in a classroom setting is preferred
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Maintain all records and the comprehensive computer database necessary to complete the annual child counts and other state and federal reports required by the Oklahoma State Department of Education; teach academic content as designated to pupils in a classroom, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and activities aligned to current state standards.
- Adhere to district and school policies as set forth by district/site handbooks.
- Provide a learning environment that allows all students to feel safe and successful.
- Instruct pupils in basic subject matter specified in state law and regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Monitor and evaluate pupils' academic and social growth toward goals, make adjustments as needed, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
- Identify pupil needs and collaborate with other professional staff members to assess and provide interventions/resources for pupils’ health, social‑emotional, and academic needs.
- Enhance professional pedagogy through in‑service education provided by the district and self‑selected professional growth opportunities; set goals for professional growth and seek guidance.
- Perform additional duties assigned by immediate supervisor.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.
- Regularly requires the use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
- Frequently requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; occasionally requires sitting.
- Requires lifting and/or moving up or more than 10 pounds frequently and occasionally up to or more than 50 pounds.
- Vision required for close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
- Work in high, precarious places and outdoors; interact with moving mechanical parts; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
- Weather exposure including extreme cold outdoors and extreme heat including direct sunlight.
- Noise level varies from somewhat loud to extremely loud.
May occasionally supervise a variable number of employees in overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
