Position: Childhood Instructor

Salary: $16.13 Per Hour
Position Goal: Assist in providing innovative teaching and care in a learning environment that offers and encourages choice and developmentally appropriate self‑direction.
Qualifications- High School diploma or GED required.
- Must possess one of the following:
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
- Certificate of Mastery.
- Completed thirty (30) college hours, including fifteen (15) hours of child development coursework.
- A Bachelor’s degree that includes six (6) hours of child development coursework.
- Experience in preschool or childcare teaching preferred.
- Must meet all state licensing requirements.
- Satisfy all district requirements regarding physical health and citizenship.
- Ability to bend, stand, kneel, lift, and move freely to interact with children and perform all job duties as assigned.
- Alternatives to the above qualifications may be accepted at the Board’s discretion.
- Serve as instructional leader in the classroom.
- Assist with everyday operations, including setting up before students arrive and cleaning up after they depart.
- Work with students in a manner consistent with each child’s development, being aware of their needs.
- Assist in preparing lesson plans that align with developmentally appropriate practices.
- Implement lesson plans in a developmentally appropriate environment and structure the work‑play center to meet licensing requirements.
- Attend all required meetings and meet staff development requirements.
- Assist in program evaluation.
- Adhere to student behavior and discipline policies as outlined in the Jenks School Handbook; guide and administer discipline positively, respecting and promoting self‑control, self‑direction, and self‑esteem.
- Attend workshops and conferences required by licensing standards.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Regular Requirements: Stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch; lift or move up to 20 pounds; handle objects and tools with hands; repetitive use of fingers and hands.
Occasional Requirements: Reach overhead above shoulder height and horizontally; lift or move up to 40 pounds.
Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
