Located in the Philadelphia suburbs, the School has two campuses. The Middle & Upper Schools are located just outside of West Philadelphia in Wynnewood, and the Lower School is on our Old Gulph Road campus in the heart of Wynnewood.

Friends’ Central School seeks a passionate, student-centered Assistant Wrestling Coach to help grow and sustain a dynamic wrestling program serving both Middle School and Upper School student-athletes. Coaches serve as educators and mentors, helping students develop resilience, confidence, leadership, and accountability. The Assistant Wrestling Coach plays a vital role in shaping the daily student‑athlete experience and contributing to a positive, competitive, and supportive program.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with the Head Wrestling Coach to plan and lead engaging, developmentally appropriate practices and competitions
- Support the growth of a cohesive program across Middle and Upper School levels
- Mentor student‑athletes in skill development, sportsmanship, and personal growth
- Promote and monitor academic success in alignment with school expectations
- Foster a team culture rooted in respect, inclusion, and accountability
- Collaborate with colleagues, families, and the athletic department to support the overall student experience
- Contribute to program‑building efforts, including outreach and player development initiatives
- A strong foundation in wrestling, including practice design, competition strategy, and athlete development
- A commitment to education-based athletics and student-centered coaching
- The ability to build meaningful relationships with student‑athletes and positively engage families and colleagues
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Previous coaching experience required; collegiate experience preferred
- A genuine enthusiasm for working with middle and high school students
- Ability to actively engage in practices and competitions, including demonstrating techniques
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform movements such as standing, running, bending, and kneeling
- Comfort working in a dynamic and occasionally loud athletic environment
This position reports to the Head Wrestling Coach and the Director of Athletics and Wellness.
