Substitute Teacher

Job Duty

Effectively manage a classroom of students by keeping them on task and engaged

Assumes all duties and responsibilities of the absent teacher

Follow lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher

Supervise and ensure safety of students during classroom hours

Maintain a positive learning environment

Leave feedback and notes for the regular classroom teacher

Assist with non-classroom duties when assigned

You will receive an email from SPS regarding background check, orientation video, and onboarding documents.

You will receive access to Frontline where available substitute jobs are located.

The State Department of Education requires a fingerprint background check for all Skiatook Public Schools' certified and non-certified employees.

If your background check has been processed by another Oklahoma school district within the last five years and you can obtain a letter of good standing from that district along with the background check results, it may be accepted upon review.

There are two ways to complete your Background check and Fingerprinting:

• We can send it for you! Just bring the following:
  • $45 Cashier's Check or Money Order made payable to OSBI (No cash or personal checks, please)
  • Fingerprint card completed at the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office ($15)
  • Bring to the Education Service Center located at 355 S Osage Skiatook, OK 74070

• Use one of the OSDE sites to do both the fingerprinting and the background check. Payment is made during the appointment or upon scheduling.
  • Visit  or call to schedule your appointment.
  • If using the website to schedule, select Digital Fingerprinting then select "Oklahoma" for the state.
  • Choose a convenient location
