Special Education Teacher – Severe/Profound

Position:
Special Education Teacher – Severe/Profound, Skiatook Public Schools, Skiatook Intermediate Elementary.

Skiatook Public Schools offers competitive pay and benefits including paid holidays and health benefits. Starting salary will be based on applicant qualifications and/or work history. The district’s salary scale can be found at https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)./District|Employee Salary Schedule. Severe/Profound Special Education Teachers will also receive a 15% stipend on their base pay effective with the 2025-26 school year. The district also provides on-site daycare for staff members.

Qualifications
  • Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate.
  • Certification for severe/profound disabilities.
  • Elementary certification preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience (preferred).
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
Responsibilities
  • Teach district‑approved curriculum.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to maturity and student interests.
  • Prepare for assigned classes.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media.
  • Guide learning toward achieving curriculum goals, set clear objectives and communicate them to students.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct, develop reasonable classroom behavior rules, and maintain order.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Be aware of individual learning needs, provide accommodations and seek assistance from district specialists as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with law, district policy and administrative regulations.
  • Be accessible to students and parents for education‑related matters outside instructional hours.
  • Work well with supervisors and team members.
  • Maintain consistent punctual attendance.
  • Perform other duties assigned by an administrator.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
