Student Success Counselor

As a Student Success Coach and Mentor with City Year, you will serve full-time in a partner public school, providing academic and social-emotional support to students. You'll build strong relationships, offer one-on-one and small-group tutoring, and help students set and reach goals in attendance, behavior, and coursework. Working within a diverse Ameri Corps team, you'll collaborate closely with teachers and school staff, track student progress, and participate in ongoing training and leadership development, all within City Year's collaborative, inclusive, and social justice-oriented culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily in-school mentoring and academic support to a caseload of students
• Support classroom instruction through small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects
• Coach students in social-emotional skills, attendance, and goal setting
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to identify student needs and progress
• Track and report student data to inform interventions and measure impact
• Engage families and school partners to support student success
• Participate in ongoing training, reflection, and leadership development activities
• Model City Year's values of inclusivity, social justice, and service
