About this PositionThe Student Success Coach serves as a primary point of contact and resource for students, providing guidance and support throughout their educational journey. This position works directly with students to promote academic success, persistence, and achievement of their educational goals. Responsibilities include recruiting, counseling, motivating, and advising students; supporting retention initiatives; assisting with course selection; and guiding students through the enrollment and registration processes.
The Student Success Coach is committed to providing exceptional, student-centered service through a variety of communication methods while connecting students with the resources and support needed to succeed at Connors State College.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assist students in choosing courses and creating their schedules
- Discuss degree and program options with students, helping them align their academic plans with career goals and providing guidance and counseling as needed.
- Aid in creating solid academic plans by reviewing transcripts and completing degree checks
- Become knowledgeable about prerequisites and program requirements; apply this knowledge in advising sessions
- Use transcripts to determine course placement
- Discuss general college information with students and families
- Maintain accurate notes and files
- Build rapport with current and potential students
- Reach out to medium and high-risk students through various modes of communication
- Follow up with students as needed
- Assist students with resume-building and career skills
- Link students with resources to increase their success
- Gather and update community resource information
- Receive admissions applications, review information and process for admissions approval
- Request required documents from students as needed
- Communicate with students by providing status updates regarding their admissions status
- Maintain accurate notes and files
- Guide students through academic processes including but not limited to:
- Course Equivalency and Course Substitution Requests
- Plan of Study Change
- Add/Drop/Withdraw
- Transferring
- Appeals
- Work with other departments to troubleshoot and resolve problems relating to admissions, advising and retention
- Understand functions of other departments on campus and refer students as needed
- Serve on college and community committees as requested
- Assist with community events as requested
- Assist with recruitment event as requested
- Associate's (degree must be conferred on or before agreed-upon start date)
Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
Must be able to work at the location that best serves the institutional needs of Connors State College
Some travel required to serve institutional needs
Some irregular work hours required to serve institutional needs

- Previous work experience in higher education
