Reports To: Superintendent or Foreman
Location: Project-Based (Various U.S. Solar Sites)
Position OverviewThe Solar Skilled Craft worker is responsible for performing a wide range of field construction activities to support the safe and efficient installation of solar energy systems. This position requires a strong technical understanding of solar construction processes, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assemble, install, and secure solar racking, modules, and related equipment according to project drawings and specifications.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to ensure quality and compliance with project standards.
- Support site layout, wire management, torque verification, and other critical construction phases.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving issues to maintain workflow and productivity.
- Adhere to all company, OSHA, and project-specific safety procedures and participate in daily safety meetings.
- Collaborate with team members, foremen, and supervisors to achieve project milestones and maintain quality workmanship.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support project operations.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of construction or solar installation experience preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with basic hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and follow construction plans and instructions.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and stand or kneel for extended periods.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
- NCCER certification or equivalent trade credential.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
- Experience working on utility-scale solar projects.
- Familiarity with torque auditing, wire management, and racking systems.
