SUMMARY

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to join our Safety team at Oklahoma Steel & Wire. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals to play a key role in supporting workplace safety and compliance initiatives. The ideal candidate will assist in driving safety efforts across the company, ensuring clear communication and effective safety practices for a diverse workforce.

This role will involve working closely with our safety team to conduct safety inspections, manage incident reporting, support training sessions, and ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations.

What we are looking for

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards
  • Assist in investigating workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries; document findings and support corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation in compliance with applicable regulations
  • Support and help deliver safety training programs, onboarding sessions, and ongoing employee education
  • Monitor and enforce safety procedures and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Collaborate with supervisors and employees to identify hazards and implement preventive measures
  • Participate in the development and continuous improvement of safety policies and procedures
  • Track and report safety metrics, trends, and key performance indicators
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and other applicable regulations
  • Promote a strong safety culture through effective communication and employee engagement
  • Respond to safety concerns and provide guidance on best practices across departments
  • Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response efforts
ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Additional Duties as assigned by the corporate management team.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Safety, or a related field preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and regulations
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety practices, hazard identification, and risk assessment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety management systems
  • Ability to conduct safety training and present information clearly to diverse groups
  • Basic knowledge of incident investigation and root cause analysis methods
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Willingness to spend time on the production floor and in various working conditions (noise, heat, etc.)
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification preferred
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors Degree Preferred, and related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and be willing and able to operate a motor vehicle and pass a company drug screen.
