Education or training in a secondary school technical discipline with some work experience in a technical discipline
Ability to work with basic computer programs (e.g., creating documents in Microsoft Office)
Basic machining/fabrication knowledge (can fabricate simple fixtures/components)

Job Description Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in concept generation, design, development, and evaluation of new products, materials, and technologies
Develop prototype products, processes, and test set‑ups
Set up and operate manufacturing and/or test equipment; record data with limited supervision
Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks
Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes; prepare product engineering documents, reports, and drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, schematics)
Prepare reports and summaries, including quantitative analysis
Scope equipment for use and complete qualifications
Notify manager when factors that may affect a project are recognized
Execute designed test protocol
Document and communicate test results effectively

Requirements

Combination of secondary school education in an engineering or technical discipline and 2+ years of relevant work experience (4+ preferred)
Or, minimum of an Associate Degree with less than 2 years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

Experience in prototype building and testing
Proficiency with basic computer programs
Ability to manufacture devices, including small components
Understanding and execution of designed test procedures
Effective collaboration within cross‑functional teams
Application of technical principles and concepts
Development of solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope
Use of standard and approved research and development methods
Development of solutions to problems of up to moderate scope and complexity, using judgment within defined practices and policies
Technical or vocational diploma or certificate
