This position falls under the Kickapoo Gaming Commission of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma. Operational hours are seven (7) days per week, 24 hours daily including holidays; the selected incumbent will be assigned specific hours. The purpose of the Surveillance Operator position is to safeguard the assets of Kickapoo Casino by observing, monitoring and reporting on all gaming, non-gaming activities and any criminal activity.
The Surveillance Operator will observe for possible violations of the Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS), Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS), Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma Gaming Ordinance Violations, and the Oklahoma Tribal Compact.
Essential Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities- Operate a closed‑circuit surveillance system within the gaming facility.
- Observe patrons and employees participating in gaming activities to detect infractions of house and policy rules and regulations.
- Record irregularities through detailed written reports.
- Prepare daily activity report logs, incident reports and daily interdepartmental reports.
- Adhere to gaming regulations and ensure the gaming facility is following the Tribe’s gaming ordinances.
- Observe and verify cash transactions; monitor live casino games and report violations to the Director of Surveillance.
- Monitor drops, hard/soft count, and transfers of funds/assets.
- Calculate winnings to verify payment made by dealer.
- Communicate with team members via telephone or other means to identify and provide information about suspected violators.
- Possess the ability to pay attention to detail, analyze problems, communicate well with others, and perform under stressful situations.
- Testify in criminal and civil courts; gather and maintain recorded evidence.
- Ensure smooth flow of the shift.
- Service and test the Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) system on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain confidentiality due to the sensitivity of the monitoring room.
- Be flexible to undertake a variety of miscellaneous duties as assigned by the supervisor or team leader.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications:
- Ability to write clear and concise reports; basic knowledge of casino pit games, slots, poker.
- Ability to work with computers.
- Must pass a background investigation to obtain a Kickapoo Gaming Commission license.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Understand and follow posted work rules and procedures.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Follow directions from a supervisor.
- Interact effectively with co‑workers.
- Previous experience or knowledge in surveillance or gaming.
Work under pressure and maintain composure while evaluating situations and acting appropriately. Use tact in dealing with security staff and co‑workers in difficult situations. The job involves normal office conditions and the associated programs and services, with noise levels and customer flow. Workload may require additional hours. Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, twisting, talking, hearing/listening, occasional lifting up to fifty (50) pounds, and computer use.
Vision requirements include reading, distance, color, and computer vision.
