Summary

Join our team as an X-Ray Technologist (Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist) and provide high-quality diagnostic imaging that supports physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. We seek skilled, compassionate professionals dedicated to patient care, safety, and excellence in radiologic services.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine to complex diagnostic radiographic examinations using fixed and portable imaging equipment.
  • Position patients and select or adjust technical factors to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Provide patient care and ensure radiation safety by explaining procedures, screening patients, and monitoring patient condition during exams.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain radiographic equipment while identifying and reporting equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain accurate radiology records and participate in infection control, quality assurance, and radiology operations activities.

On-call hours or standby duty may be required. Position may be subject to rotating shifts: days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

REAL  be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

U.S. Citizenship is required. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after December 31, 1959.

Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.

This position requires a federal background investigation as a condition of employment.

Financial Suitability Requirement:
The applicant must review and provide financial history as part of the personnel security and suitability determination. Applicants must demonstrate financial responsibility, maintain good standing with creditors, and satisfy all legal financial obligations prior to applying.

Prior to the appointment, candidates must present two valid forms of identification. If one document is a state-issued  driver’s license, it must be REAL
-compliant.

IHS Selectees working in an IHS healthcare facility may be subject to Employee Health Policies related to measles, rubella, and seasonal influenza immunizations. Vaccine exemption requests may be available per National or Service Unit guidance.

Selectee may be subject to a probationary period.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer work through National Service programs and other organizations. Credit is given for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part-time experience.

Minimum Qualifications

GS-06:
At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 in operating fixed and portable radiographic equipment for routine and moderately complex diagnostic examinations, positioning patients, assisting with fluoroscopic and contrast procedures under supervision, and maintaining radiology records.

GS-07:
At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-06 in independently performing diagnostic radiographic examinations, evaluating image quality, providing patient care and radiation safety, operating and troubleshooting equipment, and maintaining radiology information systems.

Alternatively, one year (18 semester hours) of graduate education directly related to the position, or a combination of graduate education and experience (only graduate education is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement).

GS-08:
At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 in independently performing a full range of routine and complex radiographic examinations, adapting imaging techniques, monitoring patient condition, identifying equipment malfunctions, and participating in quality assurance, infection control, and radiology operations activities.

All qualification requirements must be met by the respective cutoff day of rating to be eligible for consideration.

Education

This position requires accreditation from accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Official transcripts will be required from all selectees prior to receiving an official offer. If using foreign education, a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with the transcript must be provided.
